GoodMorning Nimrod,

Following my previous email, I would like to inform you that we have decided which Hellenic Officers will write the joint dissertation/study.

I would be grateful if you could forward me your students names and  e-mail addresses  in order to establish communication between the two parties.

Also, Director of Studies Col. Micheal Katsaris  would  be happy to speak with you via telefone/viper/skype when you get  a chance. His telephone Nr is +306983500600

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best

Dimitrios

Dear Nimrod,

Sorry for delaying in responding to you; we needed to sort out some issues with our students first.

We believe that the study must deal with:

             a. The historical flashback review of  relations between Israel-Hellas from ancient times up to now.

             b. The existing situation (problems and prospects)

             c. Energy security  at SE Mediterranean

             d. Co-operation in security operations between the two countries.

Are the above mentioned topics in your field of expertise?

All the best

Dimitrios

Dear Dimitrios

In answer to your questions,

I do not know yet what is the main area of interest of the three Hellenic students who will be visiting Israel, and therefore I do not know whether we are teaching the same course. However, I assume that the fields of study are quite similar, and once we know what the Hellenic students want to study in Israel, we will link them to the relevant group of students in Israel or to a certain student, to me or to another relevant lecturer.

Skype or other Internet communications (WhatsApp talk etc.) are excellent, and certainly we should "meet" through VC before visiting and holding a discussion or lesson.

I will be happy to help whenever you want, as long as I am in Israel (and not on a tour of European combat sites or in a conference elsewhere). Our course begins in September and ends at the end of May, so if you want to meet with students you should arrive by April. During March - April the weather is also comfortable. But as stated - you will set the time according to your considerations, and when you know what is the time frame for the planned visit, we will coordinate the exact date so as to have the best timing - in terms of the course and the possibilities of meeting with the students and lecturers. When do you think you will arrive?

As mentioned above - I would be very happy to help, whenever…

All the Best,

Nimrod

Dear Dr Nimrod Hagiladi,

Thank you for your rapid response.

Starting with the issue with the three Hellenic students, the budget for their trip is already approved. However, we have not selected the persons so far, as they will start their education on mid September. We would be able to know on October 2018.  We also would like to know:

           a.  whether will you give to your students the same study or not?

           b. If yes, how many students?

           c. They could communicate via VC (e.g. skype)

           d. When it is more convenient to you for our trip to be done?

Concerning the other issues with the common papers for strategy, policy, military cooperation etc we can discuss it and to find common solutions for starting a cooperation.

I will keep you informed. Thank you for the cooperation

With best regards,

Dear Captain Dimitrios Romanos

I was glad to receive your email; Ido Soceano has already updated me on the subject.

I would be very happy to think together about the various possibilities for joint action by the Command and Staff Colleges in Greece and Israel, and that cooperation can take place in different fields.

In the field of research, there are many possibilities for examining the cooperation between the countries and research on the subject. For example, research on joint coping with disasters and natural hazards (large forest fires, earthquakes, etc.) how to prepare jointly for such a case, and to create possible models for implementation if necessary. Other possible research could deal with joint defense against common threats (terrorism, threats to economic water, etc.), historical studies of cooperation between the countries, the impact of political policy on military cooperation, and so forth.

In the field of teaching one can think of a meeting between students, lectures via VC, joint lectures on a common subject, and more. And of course we can think of other collaborations, in different fields - between the two institutes.

From reading your email, I understand that three Hellenic students have already been admitted to Israel for a three-day study. I will be happy to help them with what is required for their research - lectures, meetings, (tours?) etc.

I think it is better to discuss all this issue together …

How do you think it's right to move forward?

With best regards - and towards fruitful cooperation in the future

Dear Major IDO Soceano,

Further to our discussions conducted by the Commandants of our Academic Institutions, during the previous visit of the Hellenic side to your premises, they decided Hellenic National Defense College sent three persons (Academic Students) to your premises, for not more than three days period, in order to cooperate with your Academic Students, for the Joint Dissertation- study on "Strategic and Historical Basis of Hellenic-Israeli Cooperation".

We have the intention to give the above mentioned study to our three students during the next Academic year.

The cost of the transportation, accommodation and food will be covered by us.

We would appreciate having your response if you have the intention to host our people to your site and when it would be more convenient to you to take place during 2018. Please take into account that our Academic year starts on Sep 2018.

Best Regards,

Captain Dimitrios ROMANOS H.N.
