Hi Ido and thanks for the message.  No worries at all on the response timing – I did 2+ years in the Pentagon as an Exec officer and totally appreciate the moving parts associated with command changes.   We will—or course—work around your schedule and are most grateful for your partnering with us again this year.

If amenable—and again if this comports with your availability—I’d like to float the following rough schedule/outline.

Arrive on 1APR19 in the evening, travel to hotel in TLV. (Night in TLV)

Spend 2APR19 in TLV, (perhaps meeting with U.S. personnel that morning and having meetings in Herzliya  that afternoon). (Night in TLV)

Spend 3APR19 moving north to, e.g., Metula, Mt. Bintal, Northern Command, to learn about IDF challenges in the north.  (Again, about half of our students are focused on the threat posed by Hezbollah, the Syrian Crisis, etc.). We would also appreciate—again if possible—to study the Valley of Tears battle in detail.  (Night in northern Israel).

Spend 4APR19 moving to Jerusalem to meet with available Israeli personnel.  In addition to security matters, we have students who are focused on economic issues in Israel, law enforcement partnerships, and Palestinian-related issues. (Night in Jerusalem)

Spend 5APR19 based in Jerusalem, perhaps visiting Yad Vashem in the morning, and Masada in the early afternoon. (Night in Jerusalem).

Depart 6APR19 from TLV.  (We tentatively have a flight out mid-day).

I want to stress that we can adjust this schedule however you recommend.  We can flip/change destinations in accordance with your guidance.

Thank you very much Ido, Matt, and team.  We look forward to hearing from you. Take care!

Best/Adam

Good evening all,

I'm sorry for the delay in response, it was announced this week that our Commandant of the colleges will be promoted to a new position as a regional command commander so it has been hard to lock down dates.

We should be able to host the group, I'm just giving a heads up that, the change of command would probably happen on the week leading up to the visit or the week of it. And so the schedule might change a bit and it will be factored into the availability of the commanders of the colleges.

Having said that, if possible we would like to propose an initial meeting with the DAO team to get the ball rolling and a draft schedule sent to you.

My team will start preparing a general outline and we will run it by you, please let me know if there is anything that you would specifically like to have us focus on or try to coordinate.

I've Cc'd my deputy and the team on my end so, we can all assist.

I'll call Cdr ledridg tomorrow to set the meeting up.

Have a great evening,

MAJ Ido Soceanu

Hi Ido -- I'm just touching base WRT the message below, needing to close the loop with you on the travel dates. (I've got the NWC Commandant traveling with our team this year, and owe a briefing to the school leadership in a few days. We're supposed to buy tickets this week as well. Our plan is to arrive from Amman on 1APR19 in the evening, and depart either late on the 5th or early on the 6th). BTW, we had a phenomenal meeting with Col Shlomi Binder on Friday. It really helped set the stage for the students' studies this spring. Thanks Ido -- I look forward to hearing from you. Take care! This slides our arrival/departure plan to the right by a day, but is otherwise unchanged. We still have a lot of flexibility WRT the order of where we'll be, but ideally we'd like to spend two nights in TLV, one night up north, and two nights in Jerusalem. I'm Professor Adam Oler from National War College, the faculty leader for a group of 9 U.S. students planning travel to Israel from March 31st until April 4th. I was referred to you by my friend and colleague, Dr. Josh Krasna, who I understand was in contact with you last week. I led a similar trip to Israel in 2017, and we had the opportunity to work closely with INDC both in preparing for the trip, and while in Israel. Among other activities, we were able to hold a seminar and combined student meetings on your campus, which my students found extremely informative. We also met with a number of your students while on their U.S. trip later that spring. During our visit we also visited the Golan and Metula with INDC's assistance as well. Our students are particularly interested in Israel's security challenges to its north--several are writing papers on Hezbollah. If possible, our student trip lead -- Mr. Bruce Lichtman -- and I would appreciate the chance to confer with you, and discuss potential coordination with our visit. Our itinerary is wide open, as we hope to speak with you before locking anything in. Thank you very much Captain Soziano. I look forward to hearing from you.
