Subject : VS: Invitation for Engagement FIN - Operational Simulation Summit

Dear Srs!

In order to have simulation scenario in Brigade level, we need a squad/platoon as the smallest entity (agent) in the simulation model.

So the tactical level unit model is part of simulation model capable of handling brigade vs brigade level planning problems.

So, this was what I had in mind, but I was too short in my answer.

An example of simulations has been published in as in Tiede ja Ase Vol 72 2014.

COMPARING SIMULATED RESULTS AND ACTUAL BATTLE EVENTS FROM 1944 – A case study using Sandis software

There were Finnish battalion with strong supporting artillery against attacking Soviet forces.

Is this near the level, what you had in mind? Can we / do we have time to  elaborate this further?

We have used the simulation model in in Brigade HQ exercise as a planning tool, but there is no public references available in the web on this part.

Best regards,

Esa Lappi

gagement FIN - Operational Simulation Summit

Dear LTC Lappi,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

With regards to the title - Combat Simulation at the tactical level is a fascinating topic, however, we aim to focus the Summit on Operational Simulation at the General Staff level.

Is this something you think you can present as well?

If not, perhaps during the Summit we can connect you to our team that works on the Tactical Level Combat Simulation to allow for future exchanges and engagements.

Very Respectfully,

Aihe: Invitation for Engagement FIN - Operational Simulation Summit

Dear LTC Lappi,

I write to you on behalf of the Israel Defense Forces regarding the Operational Simulation Summit expected to take place in November.

We aim the Summit to provide all participants with an International perspective on Operational Simulation and the Challenges affecting the Operational Simulation community in the 21st Century. Thus, we have scheduled for a number of International Speakers to present the different perspectives on Operational Simulation as a Decision Support System (DSS).

It is with great honor that I extend this invitation to you, on behalf of MG Bengo. The Invitation is for an approximate 20-min presentation on the Finnish Approach regarding Operational Simulation as a DSS. We are open to title amendments. We see your vast experience of utmost importance to the success of the Summit.

Additionally, attached you will find an Article of one of our experts on Operational Simulation, Professor COL (Res.) Gabi Siboni. The article provides insight into some of the challenges the Operational Simulation Community is facing going into the 21st century.

I would greatly appreciate it if you can be so kind as to provide a response by October 21st. This is to assure we can arrange for a timeslot in the Agenda.

Very Respectfully,

Ssgt (Res.) Avi Herskowitz
