Willard InterContinental Washington, D.C.
Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., the Willard InterContinental is regarded as one of the most luxurious hotels in the nation’s capital. Nicknamed the “Residence of Presidents,” this iconic property has welcomed U.S. presidents, foreign dignitaries and celebrities, as well as been the site of many historic moments in history for over 200 years.
In a city of inimitable style and culture, this Forbes five-star hotel embodies extraordinary hospitality in the most distinctive of urban settings – the vibrant SoMa district – adjacent to the Museum of the African Diaspora and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA), steps from Union Square and close to Moscone Center, Oracle Park and the Ferry Building. Guests of the hotel enjoy the preferred location, from which it's easy to experience the city's iconic landmarks, world-class shopping and award-winning restaurants.
Yours Truly DC formerly the wink hotel is located in the prime location of West end between Dupont, Georgetown and Foggy Bottom neighborhoods. Our 355 apartment style guestrooms and Suites design reflects the brutalist architecture nature of DC that is softened by the light undertones of the bohemian history of the Dupont Circle neighborhood.
Interview with the Owner and Chef of Loi ESTIATORIO, Maria Loi
I never really pursued a culinary career, but in a certain sense, a culinary career pursued me, and now I teach at the best schools!
I always cooked ever since I was a little girl. When I was 7, I made my first meatballs, and my father was so proud of me, and how good my meatballs were, he made me the chef of the house! Feeling his pride, and seeing the joy on his face was exactly the inspiration I needed to know this was my true calling! In my previous life, before I became a chef, I was a lobbyist for big companies like ITT Sheraton, Nokia, and Texaco, but I was not the person I wanted to be. I decided to make a change after reading a poem by Constantine Cavafy, ‘As Much As You Can’ – it resonated so deeply with me, and I decided in that moment to change my life, and I did immediately.
As a toddler in his family’s restaurant in Belgium, pots and pans were his toys. At only 12, Vandaele enrolled at the Culinary Institute for Restaurant and Hotel Management in Bruges, Belgium, where he embarked on a six year program of academics and culinary externships in both cuisine and pastry at Michelin-starred Belgian restaurants.
"For nearly a century, The Roosevelt Hotel has been a Manhattan landmark, hosting historic presidential election events, lavish New Year’s Eve traditions, and major movie productions — but it hasn’t been able to withstand the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic." - T+L
"The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, a Japanese resort not far from Mount Fuji, has been in business since 705 A.D. The hotel has been passed down within the same family for 52 generations. Guinness World Records has officially recognized it as the oldest continuously running hotel in the world." - T+L
"Users can learn how to make Montreal bagels, take a virtual tour of a Kyoto temple, explore Argentina through a virtual wine tasting, and much more." - T+L
"This summer, thanks to the pandemic, four in 10 Americans expect their first trip to involve driving within 100 miles or so of their homes. It makes sense: road trips lend well to social distancing, plus they're more affordable, with gas prices remaining at a historic low. We’ve pulled together a comprehensive guide to the best road trips across the country, from the Pacific Coast Highway to the wild coast of Maine. Keep reading for the best places to stop, where to stay, and what you’ll see along the way for each route. All you need to supply is a car and a killer playlist." - CN Traveler
