Team IDF and INF,
Firstly, I am excited about our upcoming training opportunity where the IDF, INF, USN, and USMC can all operate together here in Israel. I think, while a bit painful during this first iteration, the possibilities moving forward are boundless, the information exchange priceless, and the outcome will be worth every minute we’ve invested on both sides. The opening of communication channels at the upper-levels of command and expertise exchanges at the tactical-levels will together fully attest to the closeness of the relationships between the US Navy/US Marine Corps and both the IDF/INF. I hope that by the time this exercise is being executed I’ll be able to say IAF as well.
Attached is the letter detailing where the Commanding General of Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5 (Brigadier General Sullivan) sees our current situation and upcoming opportunities. This is his official thank you for the support received thus far, and his request for that support to be continued as we reach final stages of planning and then execution with his team here in Israel.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all again personally as well as on behalf of the USN and USMC for all you are doing. We know this is a massive amount of work for you all and we truly appreciate the time you are dedicating away from all of your other responsibilities and families to help us work through this exercise.
Semper Fidelis,
Robert Arbegast
Lieutenant Colonel USMC
US Marine Attaché to Israel
