The Tactical Command College representatives suggested the parking lot of Reim base at 13:30. Will that be okay or do they need to move to the armored vehicles at an earlier point?

Toby,

Thanks.  Our USMC attache, Maj Dave Meadows, will join that part of the visit.  He’ll take the cadets in an armored van to meet our security requirements.  Where should he pick them up, and at what time?

Hey sir,

So the plan is to arrive at the Gaza Division, Camp Reim (רעים) at 13:30 for the briefing and finish at 17:00 at a nearby offensive tunnel.

Toby

Thanks for sending the schedule.  Can you be more specific on the Gaza portion?  Are the going to Gaza Div?  Black Arrow? Or somewhere else?

The VR is attached.

Tobias,

Thanks for your patience, I’ve been out of the country for the past two weeks.

For the Gaza visit they will need to travel in an armored vehicle.  Can you send me their full schedule so that we can coordinate transportation that day?  Maj Meadows, our USMC attache, may join them for the Gaza visit.

For the LBN and Golan portions they will not need armored vehicles.

I’ve asked LTC Sacra for more information so that we can verify the clearances.  Once I receive that, I’ll get the signed VR back to you.

Good afternoon sir,

The officer leading the preparations for the trip from the Tactical & Command College (MALTAK) is having trouble reaching his counterpart at WestPoint.

We have a few questions regarding your security directives:

As part of the schedule, the group plans to travel to the vicinity of the Gaza Strip; to the Moshav of Zar'it near the Lebanese border (including a visit to an offensive tunnel); and to several natural springs spread out across the Golan Heights.

Will the American participants need armored vehicles for those areas? If so, we should coordinate the location and times for linking up.

Kind regards,

LT Tobias Siegal

Andrew,

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.  Questions 2-4 would be best answered directly by the delegation.  We’re not coordinating this trip for them, so I don’t have that information.  I understand they are working with LTC Omri Weiss.  The US trip lead is LTC Sacra at matthew.sacra@westpoint.edu

1.            Are the participants allowed to travel over the Green Line in to Area C? The people in charge of the schedule from the Tactical Command College (TCC) thought bout an area they would like to visit on their last day.

No, they are not authorized to visit the West Bank.

5.            We have planned a dinner for delegation in Jerusalem. Joining the Israelis for dinner will be a few team commanders from the TCC, the commandants of the TCC, and the Command and Staff Collage. We would like to know if it is possible for you to join dinner too?

One of the Army reps from our office would be honored to attend.  What is the date of the dinner?

Very Respectfully,

Thanks,

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you from the International Relations Desk of the IDF Military Colleges.

From my understanding, you will be accomponaying the delegation of cadets from WestPoint Academy on their visit to Israel on July 21st to July 28th.

I was wondering if you can answer some questions we still have regarding the delegation:

  1. Are the participants allowed to travel over the Green Line in to Area C? The people in charge of the schedule from the Tactical Command College (TCC) thought bout an area they would like to visit on their last day.
  2. Do the participants have insurance? Part of the suggested schedule includes water sports in EIlat.
  3. Can you please send us ID information of the delegation? i understand that they will not be travelling with passports. However, in order to get permission to enter bases we will need to send them some form of ID.
  4. Do you have the info regarding the bus and it's driver throught the trip? We also need that information to get into bases.
  5. We have planned a dinner for delegation in Jerusalem. Joining the Israelis for dinner will be a few team commanders from the TCC, the commandants of the TCC, and the Command and Staff Collage. We would like to know if it is possible for you to join dinner too?

We will send you an updated version of the schedule by tomorrow.

Have a good evening.

Sincerely,

Andrew B.
