Efi, are you aware of an IDF General Officers Course? Per the attached e-mail there is a group of pilots attending one of our ‘super smart guy courses’ that is planning a trip out to attend a two-week seminar held by BG (R) Shimon Naveh. I’ve no knowledge of this, so I’m trying to figure it out and determine how I can assist. I’d greatly appreciate it if you could share any information that you have or if you could point me to the right person to talk to about the course.

Here are the details/requests and pertinent information as discussed.

Have deliberately left play in the dates in light of emerging schedule.
Purpose:
1.) Receive instruction from BG (R) Shimon Naveh, his Strategic Design Inquiry currently being taught in IDF General Officers course (just call "the general's course" and is its own entity - not associated with any of the schools.) Goal is several days instruction and practical exercise. As they have limited space for 15 people, we discussed obtaining a conference room at the hotel in Tel Aviv.
2.) Engage with IAF/IDF - interests include agile basing, innovative pilot training, and 5th generation integration. Senior level informal (not briefs) presentations/discussion on location. As much access to active duty facilities and real time issues as possible. Ground engagement - division/cocom at borders.
3.) Engagements that facilitate understanding of strategic setting, challenge for Air Force, and military.
4.) Things we need to know/would benefit knowing but do not know to ask. We are coming to work and learn.
5.) Aaron "Nooner" Brady will also be doing some research for a paper he is writing on IAF C2 in 1973. I have begun some introductions for people he can meet - anyone you have will be more than appreciated.
Background:
Lt Col Barber met with Shimon last fall in the course the research for his SAMS monograph. At that time, Shimon was enthusiastic about the idea of meeting again this fall with him and additional Air Force officers to do more work/instruct them in SDI and to meet with active duty IAF/IDF he works with and knows. This trip is following up on this initial relationship and Shimon's gracious offer of his time.
