Subject: the 1st operational simulation summit
Distinguished attaché’s,
I hope this email finds you well, and that you are enjoying the last glimpse of the brutal Israeli winter.
We would like to thank you for your participation in the "Military Operation Simulation Summit & Strategic Overview" that was held in Camp Aviv on January 22nd, 2019.
This Preview Event is essential for the success of the Military Operation Simulation Summit that is expected to take place later this year, between November 12th - 14th, 2019.
The IDF - J3 has begun preparations for the upcoming summit, inviting participants and relevant officials to take part in panels and talks during the summit.
As part of these preparations, we would like to receive your input regarding the following topics:
1) What Branches in your military hold responsibility for Force Build-Up and Force
Deployment? In the CAF, the Force Build-Up (we call them Force Generators) are principally the Army, Navy, Air Force, and CANSOFCOM. Because CAF/DND is a blended organization, other Level 1 organizations can also
have a responsibility for Force Generation but they are typically contributing enabling elements (e.g. Combat Camera) to a Task Force that is being built by one of the principal force generators. Forces are deployed and employed both domestically and abroad.
There are three Force Employers: the main one is Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC), which is responsible for almost all operations; CANSOFCOM can be a Force Employer in certain circumstances; and 1 Canadian Air Division is the force employer for most
air operations (like the IDF, if it flies it belongs to the Air Force).
2) Does your military have an equivalent to the IDF's Concept Laboratory? If so, what tools do they utilize to fulfill their mission? (Example IDF's King's Game System, as presented in the slideshow attached). The
CAF has a constellation of concept labs: the joint Canadian Forces Warfare Center; the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Center; the Canadian Forces Aerospace Warfare Center; and the Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare Center. All of these can be linked in
a virtual environment. I am not aware of the specific tools that they use.
3) Does your country have a Leading Industry in the field of Operation Simulation? (Example - Israel's Rafael). I am not aware of a company that is involved in operational
level modelling though there are several that do training simulation (CAE, BlueDrop, Bohemia Simulation)
4) Are you aware or familiar with similar positions in Academies/Research Center's in your country that may be of interest to us?
I have directed the information regarding the operational simulation summit to the CFWC and the CADTC (http://www.army-armee.forces.gc.ca/en/doctrine-training/index.page)
as they are the two most relevant organizations.
5) Who are the relevant officials in your military that you would like the IDF invite to the upcoming Summit? They have yet to self-identify.
Attached you will find the slideshow presented during the Conference and a copy of the “save the date”. A more detailed Official Invitation will follow.
As a reminder, we have available speaking opportunities!
My team, and myself, are at your service for any questions and concerns.
v/r,
CPT Benzi Zimmerman
