Bob,
The below-listed members have been selected to address the guests. The Multi-Purpose Room at Public Safety Headquarters has been reserved. I should have confirmation by the end of the week. When I get confirmation, I'll send you their bios. The Superintendent is unavailable.

The group would like to hear a panel of Police experts discuss:

Deputy Chief Dwayne Betts of the Community Policing Division and Deputy Chief Keith Calloway of the Education and Training Division:
1)      Community policing and how CPD interacts with community groups like TURN- this would include new training policies and procedures for Police beginning at the Academy level.

C    Chief Jonathan Lewin of the Bureau of Technical Services and Deputy Chief Steve Caluris of the Deployment Operation Center:
2)      Solving crime via social media analysis
3)      How the new high tech centers located throughout high-crime areas have worked successfully to anticipate, prevent and reduce the rates of violent crime esp. murders.

Chief Noel Sanchez of the Bureau of Organized Crime:
4)      Since one of the themes of the visit of this group is the examination of how international forces impact local situations, perhaps someone could discuss extent of activities of Mexican and central American drug cartels and violent gangs  on Chicago drug and weapons (and potential terrorist) activities- especially via new immigrant (legal and illegal) communities. Perhaps an officer who works with the Joint Counter-Terrorism Task Force.

Hi Tina,

I hope you have been well.

We are coming down the home stretch regarding the visit by the IDF officers on June 11-13th.

The delegation will be leaving next week to visit New York City and Washington before coming to Chicago, so we would like to flesh out the program at CPD headquarters as soon as possible so they can distribute information to the delegation.

If you could please send an agenda for the program on June 11th, including the topics listed below, who will address them and their bios of the presenters, at your earliest convenience (by Friday since it is a holiday weekend, but next Tuesday at latest?), we would greatly appreciate it. The first three topics are most important as they relate more to the group’s visit to Pastor Harris’ TURN Center just before coming to CPD. I just thought topic 4 would be interesting since Israel has some similar problems with drug and weapons trafficking. If that concerns other agencies more than CPD (e.g. ICE), then don’t worry about it.

Finally, does Chief Superintendent Johnson plan to address the group? It would be nice to have the top guy say a few words..

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best,

Bob

Hi Tina,

Itay and I spoke with Matan and Chaim (who was too sick to attend the meeting in Chicago), and this is what was decided regarding the visit to CPD Headquarters:

The group would arrive at 3 pm on June 11th after meeting with the Staff at TURN Center on South State.
Is this a walkable distance? If not I assume you can designate a reserved parking space for their bus as the group will be 40-50 individuals.

Format: We are looking for a panel discussion including Q&A of about 30 minutes followed by a tour and demonstration of how the high tech centers in HQ work and coordinate with high tech centers in the neighborhoods.

We envision the total time for this visit to be around 90 minutes: 3:00 pm-4:30 pm.

If Chief Superintendent Johnson can come if for a brief greeting at some point, that would be very nice.

Obviously from our past work together for Israel Police visits, I have complete confidence in you ability to do anything.

Best,

Bob
