That's great news,
Afternoon of the 12th at Booth sounds good, it won't be an all day.
We will probably have one more lecture or Panel of our own, so all together It's not supposed to take more than 3 hours
I think it will be best if I connect you also with Matan Or and Haim Waxman from the National Defense college, so they can give us there thoughts

Hi Itay,
I hope all is well! The 12th will work for both Austan and Steve, although Austan has a call that he needs to be on from 10:00am – 11:00am.
I have a few logistical questions. What will the timing of the seminar be? With Austan’s constraints it would be better if it was in the afternoon, or will it be an all-day seminar? Will it take place at Booth?
How many people will be attending?
Just realizing I don’t know a lot of the details.
Thanks so much!
Best regards,
Holly

I know the 11th doesn’t work for Steve Kaplan, so we should avoid that date if possible.
Thanks!

Itay,
Goolsbee will talk about the forecasts for the US economy based on Trump’s economic policies.
Kaplan will talk about the characteristics that make a successful CEO.
I was unable to get the third person. But I will try a few others. But in any event we should proceed with planning because Goolsbee and Kaplan are more than enough for an interesting seminar for your group.
The contact person in the Dean’s for organizing this event is Holly Stauffer who is copied on this email. The first order of business is to pick a time and date(June 11-14) since otherwise Goolsbee and Kaplan will get booked up.
Best,
Dennis
Ps You should communicate directly with Holly. You are welcome to cc me on the email but she is now handling the arrangements.

We would highly appreciate it if you can connect us with the relevant contacts in Booth for this activity. Perhaps you can refer me to someone specific in the Dean office.
These are not youg people, they are actually brigadier general most of them with more of 25 years of experience in the IDF and were chosen for this program to prepare them for the top IDF leadership. That is why we want them to experience what Booth have to offer.
Last year the had a seminar at Harvard Business school in which the practice a case study, and they were very happy with it.
But I think with Booth we can do something different.
I'll be happy to discuss it with you over the phone, if you have time next week

Unfortunately I am traveling that day so cannot meet. I do not know my schedule for Jun 11-15 because my daughter in law is scheduled to birth that week and my wife and I were planning to be in New York. I do not know whether Dean Madhav has responded to you but obviously the Dean’s office is in charge of committing school resources. Speaking personally, I would very much, if available, want to meet what sounds like an exceptional group of young Israelis. I would want to encourage them to apply to Booth. As I mentioned in a prior email, my wife and I have set a fellowship to bring outstanding Israelis to Booth to earn their mba and then to return to Israel. The economic issues you asked about are likely addressed best by some of our international and macroeconomics professors and I can ask them of their interest but again I would defer to the Dean’s office.
Best,
Dennis

Dear Dean Rajan, Professor Carlton
I am writing to you to follow up regarding an item that you discussed in your meeting with Consul General Aviv Ezra.
Specifically, I wanted to bring your attention to a visit to Chicago from June 11th-14th by 30-40 high level serving Israeli military officers (from the rank of Lt. Colonel and above) who have recently completed a special course at the Israel National Defense College, a prestigious institution (comparable to the US Army War College).
This course is designed to educate future leaders responsible for the security of the State of Israel in the fields of the history, policy, society, economics, foreign relations and science.
These men and women come from the IDF as well as Israel Ministries of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Finance, Labor and Welfare, Industry and Environment. The class is also open to representatives of foreign militaries and governments (including the US).
This year, the National Defense College is focusing upon, “The Influence of Domestic Issues upon Foreign Policy” as a general theme.
We believe that this visit in Chicago will not be complete without a visit in the Best Business school in the country, therefore we would like to discuss with you the possibility of organizing a such a visit.
topics of interest that might be addressed by Booth faculty include:
1. Effects of tariffs and other forms of protectionism and economic nationalism on the stability and strength of the United States and consequent impact on the international trading system.
2. The relationship between conflicting Immigration policies at the federal, state and city levels and the political and economic consequences of this jurisdictional and constitutional dispute.
The Mabal advance-team will be in Chicago April 9th; would you be available to meet with them to discuss a possible June visit with Booth faculty?
Best Regards,
Itay Milner,
Deputy Consul General.

Aviv,
I would be happy to meet or talk by phone with you. My wife and I established the Carlton Fellowship Program to bring Israelis to obtain an MBA at the Booth School. Currently, we have six fellows per class. The fellows receive a stipend plus free tuition. The condition of the fellowship is that the fellows have to return to Israel within a few year period. The fellows have been outstanding and many go back to Israel. Partially as a result of the Carlton Fellowship, Booth has succeeded in attracting many Israelis to apply to the school. I believe that there are about 6 Israelis in each of the two classes in addition to the 6 Carlton fellows. The Israelis are very active and many participate in running a trip called BoothRight which takes over 100 Booth students(mostly non-Jewish students) to Israel for about 10 days. My wife and I have separately supported that trip which also receives support through a nonprofit called Israel Co. Some of the Israelis at Booth are active in the American Israeli Chamber of Commerce and there is a Booth alumni group in Israel. Booth has several close friends in Israel. Two of my former students, Avi Weiss and Eugene Kandel ,have been especially helpful to us. Avi is a prof at Bar Ilan and the director of the Taub Center think tank. Eugene is a prof at Hebrew U.,was Netanyahu’s adviser and now is head of a non profit that encourages startups in Israel. I would be happy to talk or meet with you. Just email me and we can arrange something.
Best,
Dennis

Aviv,
It was a pleasure to meet you as well.
I have copied my colleague, Dennis Carlton, on this message. Dennis has done a great deal to connect students from Israel with opportunities at Booth. He would be a natural person for you to contact, both in order to find out about the programs he has instituted and supported, and to think about ways to enhance them going forward.
I appreciate the book gift and look forward to reading it!
Best wishes,
