Dear Tim,
I hope this message finds you well.
It is with great sorrow that I have to inform you that due to the COVID-19 situation, our delegation to Munich is postponed until further notice.
I wish to thank you, in advance, for your willingness to partake in our journey, and play an important role in educating our delegates.
Once the situation becomes clearer again, we will resume to plan our delegation and would much appreciate to have the opportunity of reaching out to you and Prof. Dr. Linder.
I wish you and yours safer and healthier times.
All the best,
Gadi
Dear Tim,Thank you for your response, and thorough search. It is highly appreciated! Indeed, Prof. Dr. Linder sounds like an interesting match, that might just work.As you can assume, the entire occurrence of the delegation is currently at stake. We will be wiser in the next couple of days, when decisions on "higher levels" will be made. Upon having a better knowledge regarding the relevant time slot for the delegation to take place, we will contact Prof. Dr. Linder.Again, we wish to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your assistance and dedication. All the very best,Gadiבתאריך יום ה׳, 12 במרץ 2020 ב-15:22 מאת .TELA MIL-2 Hullmann, Tim <mil-2@tela.auswaertiges-amt.de>:Dear Gadi,
Sorry for the late response; it took some time to identify an expert who might meets your requests. Additionally the current situation somehow superimposed our internal conversation.
Nevertheless we’ve received a positive feedback on your request. You’re invited to contact Prof Dr. Linder from the German Armed Forces University in Munich. He is for many years scientifically reviewing Nazi history and its impact on our Bundeswehr. He also convened workshops with the focus on the role of the Wehrmacht and implications for today’s generations.
I would like to recommend that contact Prof Dr. Linder (stephan.lindner@unibw.de) directly in order to discuss if can respond to your interests and if a meeting during your trip would be possible.
I’m wishing you many success and strongly hope that your excursion is not being affected by the current situation.
With kind regards
Tim

Thank you, Benzi, for the kind introduction and efforts to support this initiative. We are all grateful for that.
Dear Tim, it is a pleasure to e-meet with you and thank you for reaching out to the different people within your network – we highly appreciate it! Also, thank you for the reference to the Documentation Center. Indeed, we’ve heard great things about it, and consequently reached out to their representatives few weeks ago in order to coordinate a visit for our group there. Our purpose is to provide our delegates with as many perspectives and schools of thought as possible, and the Documentation Center will hopefully play a vital role here.
In this regard, while we’re highly appreciative of your search for historians within your armed forces, we hoped to “strengthen” our itinerary from a different perspective. Our initial thought was to host an IO person or someone from the equivalent unit to the IDF’s spokespersons unit, while we visit the Nazi Era Exhibition in the city museum. We believe it’ll be fascinating to hear how such a professional may view today, in retrospective, the problematic modus operandi used by the Nazi regime in order to incite and dominate the info domain; and perhaps get a glimpse – within the permissible limitations, of course – on how these horrific times may have influenced current day conduct. If you feel a different professional may be better suited for this initiative, please – do not hesitate to let me know.
As for dates, as written, we were aiming for July 22nd during the morning hours. However, if you see a different day during the week may be the only option for a suitable representative, please let me know. One way or another, in case of relevancy, we would of course like to invite your representative to join us for lunch or perhaps dinner as well.
Personally speaking, we believe that the presence of a German military personnel – within any capacity – will be an immense contribution to our intensive one-week visit to Munich and Nuremberg. I wish to thank you, in advance, for your time and willingness to consider our request.
Kind regards from Tel-Aviv,
Gadi

Good Morning Benzi,
Surprisingly quick I’ve got a response from our historians. Actually the response is twofold, negative and positive.
Firstly, the military historians are not available and/or capable regarding the request of Gadi.
However; it is recommended to approach the “NS-Dokumentationszentrum München”, which translates into Nazi Documentation Centre Munich. This centre is highly qualified and best suited meeting his request. Under the link ‘Education Services’ he can request an appointment which includes various opportunities for interaction, including discussions.

I hope that helps.

Good morning Benzi,
What an interesting request. Please give me some time to process this.
Indeed there’re historians in our Armed Forces; however I need to check if these folks are available.

Dearest Benzi,
I hope this message finds you well.
Following our conversation on the matter, I wanted to detail again that between July 19-26, 2020, I’ll have the privilege of co-leading a delegation to Munich, facilitated and sponsored by the Schusterman family foundation. The delegation will be comprised of about 30 Jewish young professionals from all sorts of professions and origins – all, we no exception, are leaders in their respective fields, from law and policy, to arts and journalism.
Our delegation’s stated purpose is as follow: many of us are already familiar with the results and horrors of the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question”, either thorough the traditional education systems, or the participation in formal delegations to concentrations camps in Poland. The origin of this terrifying reality, on the contrary, lay in Germany. Munich and Nuremberg of Bavaria, in this regard, are the sites that represent, more than anything, the routes and pattern of the Nazi party, which needed only a decade to commit humanity’s most evil acts. However how did Bavaria, a beautiful free state within Germany, become the political incubator in which Hitler and his collaborators gradually built, with the public’s support, the infrastructure and institutions of the Nazi Party? What were the political moves they took, step by step, within the German system, to remove their opponents and silence any criticism towards their conduct? And who are the people of Munich who variedly protested and rebelled the Nazis, despite the dangerous such action entail? To these questions, and many more, Munich is a “living Museum” which provides vital answers, as significant parts of it remained the same. Among them are the fighting allies between the “Brown-shirts” (Braunhemden) thugs and the Republic’s policemen; the beer basements where the Nazi oppressor gave his rapturous speeches; the Fuhrer’s Headquarters, where Czechoslovakia was handed to the Germans without any resistant; the campus were Hans and Sophie, two students, distributed resistance leaflets against the Nazis, until they were caught and sentenced to death in a show trial; Hitler’s Jewish-owned rented apartment; and many more. These living pieces of history are in the unique position to teach us all deep lessons, Jewish and universal alike, within and intensive once-in-a-lifetime journey.
During our one-week visit, we would attend, among others, the Munchner staad museum and explore an exhibition dedicated to propaganda (mainly, though not just against against Jews). We thought it would be fascinating to meet with a German military representative who’s dealing with the info domain; perhaps discuss how the propaganda methods used by the Nazi Party back then are perceived by German info-specialists today; and explain the shift Germany took in regards to the principles guiding its methods and conduct these days. Our visit will likely take place on July 22nd, during the morning hours. In case of relevancy, we would of course like to invite such a representative to join us for lunch that day, or perhaps dinner.
As always, I’m available to you with any question you might have.
Kind regards from Tel-Aviv,
Gadi
