Lazar,

Thank you for your response.  To give you a few more details, I am developing an operational typology of subterranean threats.  The study includes a historical analysis of subterranean use in the following conflicts: World War I, World War II, The Vietnam War, North Korea, Gaza-Egypt, and ISIS in Iraq.

The purpose of this monograph is to explore subterranean operations at the operational level.  Through the research and analysis of primary and secondary sources, the project will develop a typology of subterranean operations to answer the following research question.  At the operational level, what does the US Army need to consider in preparation for combat against an enemy that excels in subterranean operations to gain the strategic advantage?

Any resources that may benefit this research would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much for your time.

Respectfully,
MAJ Haley Mercer

Hi Haley,

I apologize that this only reached me now. I hope it is still relevant. If so, I am happy to help where I can.

Could you provide any more details on the monograph to guide me? Section headings, research question, etc? Also, I assume the work is unclassified?

Again, my apologies, and I look forward to being in touch.

Best wishes,

Lazar Berman

Good Afternoon,

My name is MAJ Haley Mercer and I am currently a student at the School of Advanced Military Studies, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. I am in the process of conducting research for my monograph on the operational level implications of subterranean operations. One of my focus areas is Israel and Hamas' employment of subterranean operations. Can you provide me with resources or contacts that may be able to enhance my research? Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,
MAJ Haley Mercer
