Thank you for your very thoughtful note at this difficult time. I know that VADM Stearney had a very warm relationship with MG Alon, MG Haliva, and the IDF staff and enjoyed visiting Israel and working with the outstanding professionals there.  We will endeavor to carry on in that spirit and the dedication to peace and security that VADM Stearney demonstrated every day.

Dear All, 

 

I’m writing this letter on behalf of the entire International Cooperation Branch, and the staff of the IDF Operations Directorate.

 

We are extremely saddened, and are in shock, after learning of the tragic and unexpected passing of VADM Stearney. 

 

We send our deepest condolences to the entire Stearney family and all of those in the U.S Central Command and U.S. 5th Fleet who have had the honor to work alongside him.

 

 VADM Streaney was a remarkable commander, leader and friend to the state of Israel. We will never forget him. 

 

MG Alon and MG Haliva are truly saddened by a loss of their friend, and will be sending condolences letters as well. 

 

 Fair winds and following seas.

 

As we say in the Jewish tradition - May the Almighty comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. 

 

Our thought and prayers are with you all, the US Central Command, US fifth Fleet, The US Navy and the entire Stearney family.
