Subject : RE: 2019342-A-Israeli National Defence College 2020-2021

Hi Matan, now that we have accepted the offer of a seat, perhaps we could revisit the practical issue of the movement of furniture and effects and vehicle. To summarize:

Our previous student did not have diplomatic status and therefore the Embassy was unable to help him with Customs clearance of his household goods and vehicle (Pat didn’t actually bring a vehicle because of an admin mix up on our side but the next person will be entitled to do that). As a result, Pat spent much more time and effort dealing with Customs issues than he would have if the Embassy had been able to help. I suggest that we need one of two things:

1.      The next student comes on a diplomatic passport; or

2.      Israeli Customs permits entry to the household goods and vehicle as if they were covered by diplomatic status (e.g. allowing them to be addressed to the Embassy).

A solution that allows the Embassy to assist the member with the processing and delivery of their household goods and vehicle would greatly benefit the individual and allow them to focus more of their energy on their studies without the distraction of ‘adminsitrivia’.

I would be grateful for any insights or assistance you could render in this regard.
