Hello Eran,
I am attaching my Final Paper Proposal, which is now approved by the academic advisor. I am not sure if I need to send this also to someone else so I am as well sending it to Anat and Matan in cc, just in case. Sorry if I am overloading mailboxes here.

Dear Shlomo,
I have slightly modified the proposal (only minor, non substantial edits) and added to the bibliography the suggested text.
If for you this version is ok and I can consider it formally approved, I will forward it to the MABAL academic team.
Best regardsשבת שלום

This is a very strong proposal.Obviously, pragmatic policy makers will focus on the first question, while strategic planners will opt for the following questions.I would like to recommend Kemp's book titled "the east moves west". It is closely connected with global geopolitics and the growing demand of far-eastern states for middle east oil.

Dear Shlomo,
I have drafted an initial version of the Paper Proposal that I am supposed to deliver by Jan 20.
I am attaching it for your kind review and comments/suggestions.
In the section about the research questions I left probably more than I should, but really I am not sure about it. I definitely think I should research in depth questions 2 and 3 but I don't know if the others are actual research questions or not.
I thank you in advance for your precious support and renew my complete availability in meeting by telephone or in person if and when you deem it necessary.
Best regards,
Davide Salerno

Dear Shlomo,
Thank you again for your time and the wonderful chat we had this morning!
I attached the short paper I am writing for the Strategy Course (bear in mind it' is still a draft/work in progress but probably 95% done).
Also, hoping it will be useful to you, this is the AI book I told you about:

Dear Shlomo,
sorry it took me a few days to reply but I am currently back in Italy spending the Christmas holidays with my family.
My original idea came from the fact that I am fascinated by the electric revolution (electric veichles and new energy technologies) and I wanted to try and study the impact it might have on the geopolitics of ME. I think that what you are suggesting in your email (especially points 2 and 3) matches very well with what I wanted to write about providing a better defined line of research.I will be very happy to follow your lead on the paper and it will truly be my great privilege if you would supervise my work.
I will be back in Israel on Jan 2nd and I will be glad to get in touch with you at your earliest convenience either by phone or directly in person (I can drive to Jerusalem anytime I am free from classes in Mabal).
Best regards,Davide Salerno

I will check with a member of my innovation team whether he can help with the energy issue.Alternatively, would you consider a research question that focuses on the impact of energy changes on the position on the Middle East? This may involve the following:1. Current relations between energy and the geopolitical position of the Middle East2. Future trends regarding energy supply of different sources: oil, gas, renewable energy.3. Possible impacts of these trends on the geopolitical position of the Middle East4. How different states in the Middle East prepare themselves to these changes.
In that context, I will be able to supervise your work. However, please feel free to develop the original program you had in mind, and I will do my best to help with an expert in the energy sector.
Best regards,Shlomo Hasson

Dear Shlomo,
Thank you very much for your quick reply. Simona told me that to the best of her understanding you had a team looking at energy issues at the Shasha center - maybe it would be possible to connect me with someone or speak over the phone?Being from Italy I don’t really know many people in Israel that could be an academic advisor for my paper so any suggestion from your part would be much appreciated.Thank you again.חג שמח!Davide Salerno

Dear Davide,
This looks very interesting. The general structure touches upon many issues, including the oil market, renewable energy, electric vehicles and geopolitical effects. My expertise is not in the energy market, though this issue resurfaced several time in my work on innovation, science and technology. My advice is to identify someone who is an expert in the energy field, the coming changes and their impact on the Middle East. Please feel free to address me on any other question you may have.
Best wishes,Shlomo

Hello Shlomo, and thank you very much in advance for your time.
I am in the process of looking for an academic advisor for the final paper I will write for Mabal.
My idea for the paper, in the general area of "energy security" is to talk about:
"The Electric Revolution in the automotive and energy sector and its geo-political effects on the world oil market with focus on the Middle East countries".
The general structure would look something like this:
- History and description of the world oil market (price definition and geopolitics along history)
- Description of the evolution of the electric car and Solar Photovoltaic + storage technologies and market, focus on disruptive effects
- Evolution and charachteristics of the economies of countries like Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait from pre-oil to today
- Geopolitical effects on the Middle East of a disrupted oil market
Everything is still very much in an evolution phase so I am still trying to figure out the right direction to give to the paper.
I would really like to hear your opinion about it and eventually meet for a short talk if you are available.
In the meanwhile I send you my best regards.
