Thank you for sharing your paper before we meet on Sunday.
The following are some initial thoughts that may be of assistance to you while preparing for your presentation on your concept for the final paper.
Firstly, I must stress that we have allocated only 15 minutes for each group's presentation, which includes time for questions and comments, so you should allocate about 7 minutes for
presenting your idea. Since your paper is very comprehensive, I think you should focus on your motivation for writing about this topic, the definition of the topic and the research question/s.
Second, I believe you should really ask yourself what is the one or two research question that you would like to address. Currently you intend to cover too many questions, as well as
to conduct a comparative study, and I think it must be narrowed down significantly. Also remember that the maximum amount of pages for the project is 80.
Your general topic is defined clearly, but I think that the main question that you still need to explain is why do you think that the military needs to get involved in civilian
emergencies? Maybe it happens in reality due to some reasons, but it seems that you think that it should be this way. Maybe this could be your research question. Then you will need to elaborate what makes the military apt for this job more than other
dedicated civilian organizations.
I think that given the scope of the final project, it is not realistic to cover all legal, organizational, financial and other aspects. Looking at your proposed construct, after the
introduction chapter, I would go directly to chapter 5. Comparative study on COVID-19 is sufficient in my view.
Finally, please note that these are simply my views on your initial proposal, and it is important that you end up writing about what you all are interested in. It is also perfectly
legitimate to present your dilemmas on Sunday or several options for research questions and let us try to help with the focus.
