Members of the Higher Command and Staff Course delegation to Israel 

It’s great pleasure to host you here in Israel. I hope your visit will be informative and productive. 

This letter is accompanied by a collection of 10 postcards depicting different places in the Land of Israel by British artist David Roberts.  The photographs first appeared in the Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia, which was published in London in 1855.

Roberts [1796 - 1864] was published after an 11-month expedition to the Middle East between 1838 and 9 years, when he drew almost everything that had happened in his path, and returned to London when, under 272 drawings, he transformed lithographs for the general public, which first met in the original sites from Israel and the surrounding area.  Roberts' work is considered the first and most important work done in the first half of the 19th century, and it provided a vivid initial description of the Land of Israel, which until then had only been known in holy scriptures.  

The collection of 10 postcards was specially made for delegations gesture to the Higher Command and Staff Course from Higher Command of National Defense in Israel.
